3. A ★★★★★ review of The French Dispatch (2021)

“Just try to make it sound like you wrote it that way on purpose.”

This film is the most Wes Anderson thing I’ve seen. It was almost like Wes was figuring out how to out-Wes himself. And it worked!

This was the most fun I’ve had watching a film, I think. The stories within the story were so vivid, so beautiful, so fun…at times, I forgot that I was experiencing just a slice of the cake. A brilliant cast! Brilliant performances! The illustrations in this film were mind-blowing (Javi Aznarez…oh how I love you so)! I hope Wes incorporates more illustrations in his future films.

Hands down, this film was so pretty, so funny, and quite possibly, the most Wes Anderson thing to ever exist (it is more Wes Anderson than Wes Anderson himself). Bravo.

I write about films, media, and tunes on a personal level in order to show the humanity behind characters and narratives written for our eyes and ears.
